I was standing at the edge of the water, my hands to Elune. Soft moonlight trickled down through the leaves, setting the pond sparkling. It was an almost perfect finish to the day. I closed my eyes and whispered thanks, the words lost to the evening breeze. I was a Silverthorn now. Lilybeth Silverthorn.
From behind me, Kalithil’s hands found my waist and pulled me to him. I wrapped my arms around his as he gently started to sway. After a few minutes, he guided me to face him, his eyes shining down. Oh, but how he looked at me! His hand slid up, finding my arm, then my hand. He entwined our fingers, our eyes each lost in the other’s.
I foolishly started to to speak and he chuckled, shaking his head. All I could do was laugh in turn as I lay my head on his chest. The sound of the wind in the trees, the creatures of the night, even the water lapping at the shore was our music. We danced under the stars without a care in the world. My joy knew no measure that night. Violet shimmers appeared below our feet as they moved. My magic was coming of its own accord.
Kalithil seized the moment, lifting me from my feet and spun me around. Arcane sparks drifted in the wind around us. My hair fell down around my face, the little beads of crystal woven into it shimmering in the the moonlight. As he lowered me to the ground, he placed a hand alongside my face. Ever so gently, he swept the shorn locks behind my ear. He tipped my chin upward and kissed me gently, bringing his forehead to rest against mine. And still we danced.
How long we stayed out there, silent under Elune’s light, I cannot say. My heart still flutters to remember it. But it was the perfect night. Our own celebration, done our way. Alone under the trees and stars.
